Description 

The International Shaw Society and the Shaw Festival welcome presenters and attendees to the 19th annual summer Shaw Symposium.

The event is held on-site at the Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, ONT, Canada. A Zoom option (see below) is provided for those who wish to attend the presentations digitally. 
 
Focused on Bernard Shaw’s life, his works, his contemporaries, and his legacies, this Symposium offers new scholarship relating to plays included in the Shaw Festival’s 2022 season: Shaw's Too True to Be Good and The Doctor’s Dilemma, Rabindranath Tagore's Chitra, and others. Please see   https://www.shawfest.com/whats-on-tickets/for a full list of productions.

Helmed by Artistic Director Tim Carroll (TC), this 60th Anniversary Season offers 13 productions from February 9 to December 23, including the musical and romantic comedy Damn Yankees, Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest, Bernard Shaw’s The Doctor’s Dilemma and Too True To Be Good, the return of Cyrano de Bergerac, a gripping thriller with Gaslight and two wonderful holiday season offerings: A Christmas Carol and White Christmas.​ ​

Shaw Festival Land Acknowledgement


The Shaw wishes to acknowledge and honour the land upon which we gather as the historic and traditional territory of First Nations peoples. In particular, we recognize and thank the Neutral Nation, the Mississauga and the Haudenosaunee for their stewardship of these lands over millennia.
